The Voltaic™ backpack is a mobile power source, designed to
charge your gadgets without tying you to a power outlet.
Embedded in the back of the bag are three tough, light weight,
waterproof solar panels, which generate up to 4 watts of power.
Inside the bag is a Li Ion battery pack. As in a solar powered
house, the battery stores energy so it is available when you need it,
not just when the sun is up.
The battery pack can also be charged using the included AC travel
charger or car charger. So you will have power when you need it,
whether you are in the city or the middle of nowhere.
The Voltaic™ backpack is powerful enough to charge most portable
electronics (other than laptops) including: cell phones, cameras, two
way radios, GPS's, PDA's, even iPods.
The bag includes: a set of standard adaptors
for common cell phones, a set of universal adaptors, and a cigarette
lighter socket so you can use a standard car charger. A full range of
optional adaptors are also available.
Bag
The Voltaic™ backpack is specifically designed for
electronics. There are pockets for all of your devices including an
adjustable phone / MP3 pouch on the shoulder strap, a second MP3 pouch
inside the bag, and an optional padded laptop sleeve. There is also a
bladder pouch.
Wires run through hidden channels inside the bag to take power
to
various pockets, even to the pouch on the shoulder strap. You can also
run headphones through these channels to the shoulder strap.
The bag is made from tough, UV resistant, 840D nylon and
padded with
high density foam. It weighs only 3.5lbs, including the solar panels
and the battery pack, and has a capacity of approximately
1,650 cubic
inches (27 Litres).
A light on the side pouch indicates when the panels are
generating a charge, and is visible while wearing the bag.

Battery Pack
The battery pack clips inside the back pocket of the Voltaic™
backpack and allows it to function as a mobile power reservoir, not
just a solar charger.
Inside the battery pack is a 2,200mAh Li Ion battery, it
includes:
A voltage converter with three settings 5, 6 and 7.2 Volts,
A charge indicator, and
A built in LED torch.

Adaptors/Chargers
The Voltaic™ backpack comes with a range of standard adaptors
pictured here, including 4 adaptors for the most popular cell phones,
and a set of 7 universal adaptors. Alternately you can plug a standard
car charger into the car charger socket.
It also includes an AC travel charger and a car charger, for
charging the battery when solar charging is not practical.
In addition to these standard items, we offer a range of
optional adaptors for, cell phones, cameras, PDA's etc.

Solar Panels
Integrating the solar panels into the back pocket of the bag
is a
key (patent pending) innovation of the Voltaic™ backpack. It means that
unlike a typical solar charger:
There is no need to unpack and setup the panels,
There is no need to stay in one place, and
All of your devices can stay securely inside the bag.
The panels are built into the back of the bag in a way that
allows
them to articulate, so the bag itself does not feel stiff or
restrictive.
They generate up to 4 watts of power, enough to charge most
portable
electronics (other than laptops). A typical cell phone will take 4-6
hours to charge in direct sun, see approximate charging times.
The panels are built on a strong, but light weight, aluminum
plastic
composite, specifically selected to withstand the rigors of outdoor
use.
