GUS™ Vertical Axis Wind Turbines convert wind
energy into electricity. The unique vertical axis, double-helix blade
design makes it a versatile, reliable and efficient way to produce
pollution-free, renewable power. Combine with solar to increase your
power production: wind & sun during the day… wind at night.
A few of the benefits of VAWT are:
- Produces up to 50% more electricity on an annual basis versus
conventional turbines with the same swept area
- Generates electricity in winds as low as 4 mph (1.5 m/s) and
continues to generate power in wind speeds up to 130 mph (60m/s)
depending on the model
- Withstands extreme weather such as frost, ice, sand, humidity and
wind conditions greater than 130 mph (60 m/s)
- Non-polluting through a sealed unit design with no gearbox
- Easy on the eyes and ears being the only soundless wind turbine
with non-reflecting surfaces to eliminate strobing effect
- Does not harm wildlife – such as bird strikes
Research & Development
After extensive research and development, the GUS has taken a proven
design and made significant improvements. GUS units produce more power,
require little to no maintenance and weigh less than the competition.
All of this was accomplished while also reducing the cost. The result
is a vertical axis wind turbine that is uniquely suited to a broad
array of applications. Commercial buildings, residences, the urban
jungle, recreational vehicles, boats, second homes – We find new
applications every day.
GUS wind turbines have been developed to meet the requirements of: long
life span, efficiency, durability and minimum need of maintenance. They
are available for stand alone or grid-connected applications, wherever
energy is needed. Studies show that the GUS turbine design produces a
minimum 30-50 % more electricity per year than propeller type turbines
with the same swept area and take advantage of all winds; as changes in
wind direction and turbulence do not effect them.
Environmental Issues
GUS turbines are extremely quiet (records show no perceptible increase
in noise levels in normal background conditions). They are perceived as
solid objects even at high
wind speeds and are therefore bird and bat friendly. For these reasons
they are particularly well suited for use in populated centers, on
buildings, public spaces, conservation
and park areas. GUS turbines blend into the natural environment, making
them less intrusive. Custom colors and designs are available.
CONNECTIVITY:
GUS Turbines produce three (3) phase AC current, which then is
converted into DC by the GCC controller right. That DC power is then
available for sending to a battery(ies) or a battery/inverter system
for connection with the grid.
